OTTAWA, ON – June 3, 2025 /CNW/ – In a time when national pride is soaring and Canadians are showcasing their unique spirit, Scouts Canada, the country's leading co-ed youth organization, is igniting the imagination of young minds across the nation with an exciting quest: to create Canada's next great superhero! This is a call to action for all creative kids aged 5-15 to unleash their inner artist and design a quintessentially Canadian champion that will embody the values, spirit, and wit of our great nation.
Canadians have always embraced their individuality and celebrated their unique identity. Now, Scouts Canada is providing a tangible way for kids to participate in this national moment by channeling their creativity and expressing what it means to be Canadian through the creation of an original superhero.
"Canada is experiencing a powerful surge of national pride, and everyone is looking for ways to celebrate our country in their own way," says Liam Burns, CEO of Scouts Canada. "We felt it was essential to give kids a platform to contribute to this celebration. This contest allows them to communicate the values and pride they feel being Canadian, while tapping into the incredible creativity of our nation's youth on a grand scale."
This isn't just another superhero contest. Scouts Canada is looking for heroes that are undeniably Canadian, reflecting the quirky, kind, and courageous spirit of our nation. Think maple syrup-powered gadgets, beaver-inspired abilities, and a commitment to politeness even in the face of villainy!
The Challenge: Design a Superhero as Canadian as Possible!
The rules are simple: Canadian kids aged 5-15 are invited to create an original Canadian superhero, complete with a hand-drawn (no AI!) image, a captivating name, extraordinary superpowers, and a compelling backstory. Let your imagination run wild and create a hero that embodies the essence of Canada!
To spark inspiration, Scouts Canada has compiled a list of the top 10 superpowers that a new Canadian superhero should have. Get ready to be amazed:
- Aurora Paralysis: The ability to harness the mesmerizing power of the Aurora Borealis to stun and blind foes with breathtaking beauty.
- Eh+: The unique talent of making any situation a little more fun (and exponentially more polite) by tapping into pure, unadulterated 'Canuckness.'
- Bilingual Blaster: The power to speak fluent English and French – simultaneously! – baffling and charming villains into submission with linguistic acrobatics.
- Beaver Barrage: The ability to launch a rapid-fire stream of razor-sharp (and fully biodegradable!) woodchips from super-powered front teeth.
- Maple Manipulation: The power to shoot streams of sticky, delicious maple syrup from the wrists, immobilizing criminals in a sweet and satisfying manner.
- Timbit Teleportation: The incredible ability to instantly teleport between any Tim Hortons location across the country. Fuel up and fight crime, all in the same breath!
- Moose Meld: The power to instantly mind-meld with a moose anywhere in Canada to carry out daring and dangerous missions. Think of the possibilities!
- 'Beaver' Bites: The astonishing ability to chew through any type of wood, no matter how tough, with unstoppable, beaver-like precision.
- Tactical Tuqueing: The power to transform any ordinary tuque into a helmet stronger than a Yukon snowbank, providing ultimate head protection in the harshest conditions.
- Zamboni Zapper: The ability to command any Zamboni to (slowly, but surely) run over foes, smoothing the ice and justice in one fell swoop.

The stakes are high! The top three (3) winning superhero concepts will be transformed into incredible 3D action figures, a dream come true for any young creator. These custom-made action figures will be sent to the winning kids, granting them bragging rights for life.
